Happiness Paradox

Hey there,

"what do you want to do life?"

I ask this question to many people around me. Most people have a common answer to this question. "I just want to be happy".

Valid enough

I then ask "what makes you happy"

Again a very common answer, "no stress, no pressure, good food, enough wealth, and good health".

Then I ask go and ask people whom seem to have all the above,

Then they tell me the somewhat conflicting items from this list. "Some challenges, sense of freedom, being able to walk freely"

So, in last few months i have concluded that happiness doesn't seem to be destination I can arrive at. Its not even having everything we want.

I believe the chase to happiness is much more derived from the borrowed ideas of social media. People think that travel, money and food can make them happy, and being happy is the goal ,what they would want from their life.

Though, these are my very personal thoughts, but where I stand today, I am not looking for happiness. Rather I am looking for a feeling of fulfillment.

Its not always new things and more, that brings me that. Its the challenges, and overcoming them that brings me that. Sometimes its just making myself a simple dinner does, and sometimes its crossing the finish line of a marathon does. On very rare days eating Rasmalai does it for me, and on most others, controlling my food urges does it.

Its the difficult things, standing by difficult commitments and sometimes just staying in the battle which brings a smile to my heart. What are you chasing after?
